Since then, the race has gone from strength to strength culminating in last year’s race with crowds four times the number seen in 2012. The first F1 race at COTA took place in 2012 with 100,000 fans in attendance to see Lewis Hamilton take victory with McLaren. Formula 1 has announced it has extended its deal to race at Circuit of the Americas in Austin for at least another five years.
